First saw this 10 years ago, 50 meters from a wonderful Jewish bakery where I impressed the owner with correct change
Rue des Roisers was deserted, unlike the busy street I saw last month. Lots of tourists like me.
It took no imagination then or since, to think I was standing there alone, as a Jew in 1943. I have not been able to forget, every day since.
Rue des Roisers, Paris 28 September 2017
“In memory of the director, staff and pupils of this school arrested in 1943 and 1944 by the police of Vichy and the Gestapo, deported and exterminated in Auschwitz because they were born Jewish”
