Nothing Could Be Finer!

A favorite rite of Fall is photographing the NC State Fair for Cary Citizen

I enter two of the photographs in next years competition – but not last year

This is from the 2019 State Fair and I delivered it today

2021 North Carolina State Fair Entry – Professional Photography Competition

Day of Deliverance

“I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.”

Guilty Pleasures

The 2015 North Carolina State Fair opens tomorrow. Each year since 2011, I’ve made photographs for CaryCitizen.

Temptation 1 State Fair 7659

I also enter the “Professional Photography Competition”, using images made at the previous Fair.  Even won an Honorable Mention in 2012, which I think makes me an official Tar Heel.  These two are my 2015 NC State Fair entries.

I’ve no idea if I won anything or was even Juried in.  Both could be in “rejected” storage until I retrieve them, post Fair.

I’d have entered anyway, our State Fair is irresistible, just like these guilty pleasures.

NC State Fair 2011 – #2

No matter where you at the NC State Fair,  you will hear and eventually smell,  the Tractor Pull competition.  It is the mechanical counterpart of an $8, 1,110 calorie, deep-fried Turkey Leg.  It makes no sense and isn’t good for you but it is delicious and  irresistible.   Photographed for  Complete Gallery from 14 Oct here: State Fair 2011

Warning:  Self congratulatory photographer ahead!

I don’t usually post on Friday, everybody is thinking weekend, trying to finish up the work and go.  If you go this weekend to the 2010 North Carolina State Fair, you can see this photo in the Amateur Photography Competition, Scott Building.  Yep, won a ribbon, 3rd Prize.  Now I know how 4-H kids feel.   Just wait till next year!
